Sunday the 15th of September saw the first friendly between the Derbyshire county snooker team and the Warwickshire County Snooker Team at Cueball Derby.

Following Warwickshire's first county match, and first victory, against Staffordshire it was clear that there was some brilliant snooker to be had against a Derbyshire squad that had previously tasted victories against Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and the Staffordshire teams.

The day would pan out with each of the 10 players on opposing sides playing each other once to eventual play 100 frames of snooker throughout the day.

The opening frames lived up to the hype with Derbyshire's Jamie Bodle knocking in a fantastic 91 break in his first frame at the table. Meanwhile in the Warwickshire squad Mark White did one better slotting in a great 104 break before going on to later disposing a 128 clearance. The highest break of the day.

Whilst the quality of the snooker was important the "friendly" aspect of the day also came into the fold with some great banter between the squads ensuring that, although victory was wanted by both sides, the whole day was enjoyed by all.

The day came to a close with Warwickshire victorious 65 frames to 35, which was a much deserved result due to the quality of their squad and the quality of the snooker played on the day.

Shaun Harkin, Warwickshires captain commented on the day saying "We had a fantastic day, the Derbyshire team are all great lads and complete gents, our lads had a really great day and it was a fantastic format today that ran like clockwork. There was some fantastic quality in both squads and thank you Cueball Derby for the hospitality."

 Derbyshire's Captain for the day and general manager of Cueball Paul Beech said of the day, "I had seen that Warwickshire were looking for a friendly in September and it just so happened we had the 15th free in the diary so I contacted their captain and got it arranged. It was a great day and they have a brilliant squad with some great players. The feedback about the club was also positive so I'm happy about that although not too happy about the result. We will get them next time."
